Barrington Smith Seetachitt grew up in Terre Haute, Indiana, a small town in the Midwestern United States that refused to observe daylight savings time. When everyone else changed their clocks, her town stayed  resolutely the same. For half the year, “Wonder Woman” came on at 7pm, for the other six months it was aired at 8pm.  This was a matter of some concern, as she and her two siblings had a strict bedtime.

Later, Barrington moved to Chicago and then Los Angeles, working in video and event production.  She enjoyed her work and the big-city life but, as a result of her time-constant upbringing, was never able to “spring forward” or “fall back” with the ease of her cosmopolitan friends…

In 2001, Barrington accompanied her husband to Alice Springs, where she is a full-time art student at the Centralian College TAFE.  While she has had to make a few adjustments to adapt to Australian culture, she has never had to change her clock. She is thrilled by life’s circularity and thinks it is no coincidence that she has travelled to the opposite hemisphere to land in another small town that stands staunch against society’s tampering with time.
