Barry Skipsey sees himself as a “people in landscape” photographer. Largely self-taught, he has had a rich life experience that has included time working in the sheep shearing industry and as a deckhand on prawn trawlers. Born on King Island, Tasmania, and raised in Melbourne, he has been in the Northern Territory for over 20 years. He has worked for the NT government, the NT Tourist Commission and national dailies including The Australian. In 1995, he was named Australian Geographic Photographer of the Year and his work is collected in The Australian Geographic Book of the Red Centre. He is also a popular guitarist, singer and song-writer.
