Terry Whitebeach is a Tasmanian who has been living and working in Central Australia for the past seven years. She is the Coordinator of the Indigenous Creative Writing program at Batchelor Institute, Alice Springs.

Her published writing includes a collection of poetry, Bird Dream (Penguin 1993), for which she won the Anne Elder Award and two novels for young adults, Watersky (FACP 1997) and Bantam (FACP 2002). Written collaboratively with her son, Bantam will be serialised on ABC radio national in 2003. Her first radio play for the ABC, Antarctic Journey, was broadcast in 2001. Her biography of Kaytetye senior man, Doug Ross, is presently being published by IAD press.
