Wayne Anthoney, designer of the Bushmag website, lives at Yulara, near Ayers Rock and has worked as Project Manager for Nyangatjatjara Aboriginal Corporation since the start of 1996. His main project has been the development of Nyangatjatjara College, an independent residential secondary school for Aboriginal people in the area. He first started visiting Central Australia and travelling through Aboriginal lands in 1976, performing as a clown and doing community arts work. This led to an interest in the adversity being faced daily by Aboriginal people, to a desire to help in some way and eventually to his current job. During this time he also worked regularly as Humbolt the Clown on the national children's TV show, "Fat Cat and Friends". Prior to this, Wayne was a mathematician working first for the Government and then, after being followed by men in bad brown suits due to his involvement in Vietnam peace protests, for private industry. He retains his fascination for computers and fine wines. |
