Concrete Help for BushMag

BushMag thanks its first advertiser, North Concrete, a family firm run by Clarry and Roz Wade. They started the business in 1989 with one small mobile batch plant and a ready-mix truck. Today they provide concrete and building supplies to Alice Springs and desert communities within a 600-km radius of the town.

Clarry was born and bred in the Alice. His father came from Whyalla in South Australia and did bore drilling for water while his mother’s family were involved in mining at Hatches Creek and Arltunga.

Roz was born in Kenya of Polish and English parents. Her Polish mother had been taken by the Russians to a labour camp in Siberia. She escaped and, after World War II, ended up in Africa, where she met her husband, an Englishman serving in the army. The family lived in Tanganyika until it became independent Tanzania. They did not want to return to England but migrated instead to Australia for the wide, open spaces.

Here Roz met and married Clarry. They have two children, both of whom have contributed to the building of the concrete business. They feel that Alice has been a good place to work, start a business and raise a family.

North Concrete sells ready-mixed concrete and all kinds of building supplies. The firm also does decorative work and will advise on design. Come to the show area at 5, Shirley Court or visit the website www.northconcrete.com.au You can trust a firm built on family foundations.
