A Greeting from the Editors Welcome to BushMag, the independent webzine that celebrates life in the Australian Outback. We welcome your contributions in the form of reporting, creative writing, poetry, photography and drawing. “I very much agree with your original aims and think the mag is a great initiative,” says Jan van der Bij, a new contributor writing from the Netherlands. “I expect many Aussies and Aussie lovers from abroad will feel the same way.” BushMag was founded in 2002 by the British journalist Helen Womack and a team of likeminded Australians, based variously in Alice Springs, Yulara, Adelaide and Melbourne. We wanted to show the world that there was more to life than sensational negativity and more to the Outback than cattle stations and bulldust. In 2003, we printed a glossy version of the magazine that was a huge creative and community success. While we search for further investment, BushMag lives in electronic form. We are unable to pay contributors but can assure you that any material you offer will reach a wide audience, both in remote Australia and among the overseas visitors who have come to love the Outback as much as we do. Please write to Tarla Kramer at tarla_k@hotmail.com or Helen Womack at hrwomack@yahoo.com With best wishes, Tarla Kramer, Literary Editor, based in Quorn, S.A. Helen Womack, Editor-in-chief, based in Moscow, Russia.
